Currywurst

A fast food dish of German origin, consisting of steamed and then fried pork sausage (sometimes cut into slices), seasoned with curry ketchup and often served with fries. Invented in 1949, the first Currywurst were sold at a street stand in the Charlottenburg district of Berlin where they became popular
with construction workers rebuilding the devastated city. Today, Currywurst is often sold as take-away food and served on a paper plate with a little wooden or plastic fork. Approximately 800 million Currywurst are eaten every year in Germany, 70 million alone in Berlin.
