Welcome to Hanover

Hanover is internationally known for the major commercial trade fairs such as the Hanover Messe and the CeBIT, which each attract over 200,000 visitors every year. The Hanover fair ground is the largest in the world. It was significantly extended for the Expo 2000.
Hanover is the capital of Lower Saxony with only half a million inhabitants. Apart from the trade fairs, it offers an attractive mix of culture, arts and nature, including leading museums, an internationally renowned opera house, a fabulous baroque park, and an inner city lake.

On Saturdays, Germany’s oldest flea market takes place here (Am Hohen Ufer 1) from the early morning through to the afternoon.

TIERGARTEN
The Tiergarten was originally created in 1678/79 for hunting. 120 fallow deer were let free in the forest - approximately the number living there today. Apart from the animals, the Tiergarten is also loved for its large, old trees.

MARIENBURG
Marienburg Castle is perched on a hilltop near the town of Pattensen south of Hanover.
